Gak-Si-Tal in London
While I am living in London, I could be more creative to express my identity in London. Gak-Si-Tal is one of masks used in the Korean traditional folk drama. This mask represents women’s life under the male-oriented society influenced by Confucianism in Korea. In this circumstance, women were forced to be sacrificed for her family, particularly, husband and son. Also, there were many restrictions to keep their right or self-esteem as a woman. In this sense, the face of Gak-Si-Tal represents myself as a Korean woman who has typical characteristics but I changed face to woman who have high self-esteem with attractive eyes and vivid lip color and kiss marks on the cheek.
